If you wake up tired most mornings, your mattress might not be the problem.
I see this all the time with clients. They buy expensive pillows, blackout curtains, sleep supplements — and they still don’t feel rested. Then we look at their bedroom, and the answer is right there.
Your bedroom isn’t just a room you sleep in. It’s the space that resets your energy every night.
If the energy in there is off, you will never sleep as well as you could.
Here are 7 of the most common feng shui bedroom mistakes that ruin sleep — and how to fix them fast.
1. Your bed is directly in line with the door
This is the #1 mistake. When your bed is straight across from the door, energy rushes directly at you all night. You won’t always feel it consciously, but your body will stay in a low state of alert.
Fix it: Move your bed so it’s not directly facing the door. You should be able to see the door from bed, but not be straight in line with it.
2. You have a mirror facing your bed
Mirrors bounce energy around the room. When one is facing your bed, it keeps the energy active and restless all night. A lot of people wake up multiple times for no reason and this is why.
Fix it: Cover the mirror at night, or move it so it doesn’t reflect the bed.
3. You work from your bed
I know, it’s comfortable. But your brain learns to associate places with activities. If you work, scroll, and answer emails in bed, your brain will stop seeing the bedroom as a place for rest.
Fix it: Your bed is for sleep and rest only. Work at a desk, even if it’s just a small one in the corner.
4. There’s clutter under your bed
Energy needs space to flow. If you store boxes, clothes, and random junk under your bed, the energy gets trapped and stagnant. You’ll wake up feeling heavy and groggy.
Fix it: Clear out everything under the bed. If you have to store something, make it soft, like extra blankets — nothing sharp or heavy.
5. Your phone is on your nightstand
This one everyone argues with me about, and this one makes the biggest difference. Phones and chargers put off constant electromagnetic energy. That energy disrupts the calm field your bedroom needs.
Fix it: Charge your phone across the room, or in another room entirely. No phones in bed.
6. You have too many electronics in the bedroom
TVs, laptops, speakers, game consoles — they all add noisy, active energy to a room that should be calm and quiet.
Fix it: Move as many electronics out of the bedroom as you can. If you must have a TV, cover it with a cloth when you’re not using it.
7. The room is too dark during the day
A lot of people keep their bedroom dark all day for better sleep at night. But if the room never gets natural light, the energy gets stale and heavy.
Fix it: Open the curtains every morning. Let natural light fill the room for at least an hour a day. It will reset the energy so it’s calm and fresh by bedtime.
None of these cost money. Most take 5 minutes or less.
Feng shui for sleep isn’t about magic. It’s about making your bedroom a space that supports rest, instead of working against it.
Try even one of these tonight and see how you feel tomorrow.
